There are four words that we use to describe the mindset of a successful business leader, and each of these words starts with the letter C. The first C is clarity. As a successful business leader, you know exactly where you want to go. You have a clear vision for what your company or your firm will do for you. That vision is your guidepost. It’s your lighthouse that guides you across the stormy sea. That vision must be clear in your mind, and you must be able to communicate it to all your employees at all time.
The second word that begins with the letter C, is confidence. Successful business leaders feel great about what they’re doing, and they feel like they can charge up a hill with a hundred pound backpack on their back, each and every single day. That comes from the confidence you have in yourself to find solutions for your clients, and the confidence you have in your team to deliver on those solutions.
The third letter C is consistency. You have to be able to drive consistency home to your clients, each and every single day. This comes from processes you put in your business and that you’ve set in motion when you engage your client.
The fourth C is caring. You have to be empathetic and you have to show your clients that you care about them. Clients don’t care what you know until you show that you care. These four Cs are phenomenally important to being a successful business leader. Make sure you check your inventory of your personal Cs each and every morning when you get up, and make sure you focus on how you can deliver on each of these Cs every day in your business.
I encourage you to walk around your business each day and ask your employees how they feel about their commitment to each of these four Cs; Confidence, clarity, consistency, and caring. When you quiz your employees about this, it makes it part of the culture and it also reinforces it in your own mind.
